What happens if I miss a quarterly payment?
Tax authorities can charge interest or penalties on late or missed payments. Check the official pages above for the rules in your country.
Do I have to pay quarterly taxes on a side hustle?
Not always. It depends on how much tax you will owe after withholding from your job. In the US the usual trigger is owing $1,000 or more.
Can I pay more tax through my job instead?
In the US you can ask your employer to withhold more using Form W-4, which can cover side hustle tax instead of estimated payments. In the UK, HMRC can sometimes collect small amounts through your tax code.
